About H&H
Meet Hannah
Like many before me, I found yoga out of my own deep personal need to heal. Chronic pain from scoliosis, autoimmune diseases, and anxiety have colored most of my life. But after many years as a seeker, I discovered in yoga a self reliant healing system and a realistic companion to the many up’s and down’s of life.
I credit yoga as imbuing my life with both alignment and magic. While I came to the practice seeking relief in the physical, it’s the healing of deeper layers witnessed in myself and others that draws me to this work on an enduring, soul-aligned level.
I’ve completed over 500 hours of advanced training in Iyengar Yoga and Yoga Therapy. Although deeply grateful for all my studies, I consider my greatest teacher to be my own experience living with chronic pain and disease. I seek to lend empathy to my students and the various states of being in which they may arrive on their mat. My approach to yoga blends therapeutic asana (physical poses) with Reiki energy healing and yoga nidra (guided meditation). As a singer-songwriter, you may also find me incorporating my voice and guitar during savasana (final resting pose).

The H&H Approach
I founded H&H to create a place for authentic healing through yoga in all its many forms– physical poses and tools to support mental, emotional, spiritual wellbeing too. Everything I offer is born out of my own lived experience with chronic pain and disease. And connects back to a core belief that while pain may impede our journey at times, there is nothing to “fix”, as we are whole and complete are we are.

Yes! I work with people of all ages, bodies, and experience levels. My only prerequisite for working together is a willingness to show up with heart and intention.

While I’ve received broad training to be able to help a wide population, I do bring special expertise to those issues I’ve encountered personally. These include scoliosis, chronic pain, autoimmune disease, and anxiety. I also identify as a highly sensitive person and love working with other deep feeling souls.

Iyengar Yoga follows the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar, who is widely considered a pioneer in yoga’s therapeutic applications as well as the inventor of many of the yoga props we use to foster better alignment in poses. I’ve been a student of Iyengar Yoga since 2014 and have undergone extensive training in Chicago, Jackson Hole, and Boulder. Many of my teachers trained directly with Mr. Iyengar and his children in India.
Yoga Therapy studies the practice’s propensity for lending support to conditions like heart disease, cancer, anxiety, and depression. Beyond just physical poses, Yoga Therapy offers other tools for healing such as breathwork, guided meditation, the study of subtle energies and more.

My classes typically begin with gentle movement focusing on alignment and mobility. We will use a lot of props such as blocks, bolster, strap, and a chair. Expect to feel more engagement and stretching versus strength building or cardio. And I love to end with a generous amount of time for restorative poses and/or yoga nidra (and maybe even time to play my guitar during savasana when appropriate!)

Hatha is a Sanskrit word meaning sun/moon. So Hatha Yoga indicates practices that have both sun (heating, energizing, masculine) qualities and moon (cooling, calming, feminine) qualities. I like to think of yoga as achieving balance between the two and accepting all facets of yourself, even those that seem in contrast or even opposition to one another. Heal comes from the word wholeness and exhibits my deep belief that returning to our wholeness is always possible. H&H is also a nod to my first name and love of palindromes (psst: I’m also a brand designer at Palindrome Studio).
